The future of Internal Audit.

Today, I attended a seminar hosted by the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) to learn more about the future of internal audit in Africa.

Internal auditing will be more concerned with digital transformation, business continuity, resilience, and professionalism beginning in 2022.
Risk management strategies and sustainability reports with an emphasis on environmental, social, and governance factors were also highlighted.

Several institute directors and presenters from countries as diverse as Zambia and Tanzania spoke on the subject of where they saw the field of internal auditing going in the future.

Internal auditors, Dr. Rainer concluded, “young and young,” are “the future of internal audit and must create their own pathway.”

Despite the daunting challenge that lies ahead, Doreen Ruth Mutebe reminded us that we can triumph with the help of one another and the tools we have at our disposal.

There is no escaping the pull of the forces of change, Thokozile Kuwali; we are all connected in this global community. We need to be well-informed and united if we’re going to be ready for whatever comes our way.
Zalia Njeza confirms that “the future is now.” To better understand our stakeholders, internal auditors need to be more proactive, have a deeper understanding of standards, and make investments in social skills such as data analytics.

Regarding the future of Internal Audit, what are your predictions?
